Contains a number of oversized documents filed according to type of material. Subseries A. Legal/Governmental Documents incl. a number of papers related to the Rockingham Circuit Court (assessments of Court clerks; public road papers, incl. maps; reports of the Court's business; and miscellaneous legal documents such as a juror list, and a list of County officers). Subseries B. Business/Institutional Documents contains church documents (a 1794 land indenture to two Congregations in New Market). Subseries C. Individual/Family Documents incl. numerous land indentures/deeds for various families, some dating back to King George the III's reign. Subseries D. Maps contains a colored plat of the Hall lands in Harrisonburg (present site of the Harrisonburg High School and surrounding area near Black's Run), 1883.
